Black Mirror: My Watchlist

Black Mirror, the hit sci-fi show from the British Broadcasting Company, has been drawing rave reviews from viewers. Listed below are my favorites and why

National Anthem S1, E1

The episode that started it all. No call in the middle of the night is ever a good thing. For Prime Minister Michael Callow, the call turns out to be his worst dream come true. When much loved Princess Susannah is kidnapped PM Callow must make a huge decision. This episode highlights the perils of Twitter court.

The Mister and The Boy think it's hilarious when I cover the camera for the Playstation and I don't care. I have heard too many tales about jacked baby monitors and webcams. This week and election from hell, the US has seen the damage an electronic footprint leaves

White Bear S2, E2

White Bear S2, E2

Imagine your last Girls' Night Out. You had TOO much GNO. You wake with one shoe, cannot find your phone, and can't recall how you got home or when. Also, The Mister is giving you the silent treatment. Now multiply this by ten. This is White Bear. Victoria is trying to find her daughter while fleeing masked people attempting to kill her with rifles. Every person she turns to for help ignores her, rather, they record her every move. This brings to mind bystanders who record someone in crisis and pull out a smartphone to record the action instead of using the phone portion to call 911.

The Entire History of You S1, E3

The Entire History of You S1, E3

I am HORRIBLE with names. When I call the kids, I sometimes resort to gender because their names escape me. Some of my students are countries because I look them in the eyes and just cannot even. I can remember HOW we met, what the circumstances were, even what they were wearing. Their names remain as elusive to me as a size 12. In TEHOY, the writers present a world where entire scenes can be called up to refresh memories. Liam, the protagonist in TEHOY, uses his technology to rewind the name of a guest in his home. He shows his wife a performance review he is not sure he aced or not. Then he uses the technology for disaster. A cautionary tale about how much should we remember.

White Christmas S2.5, E1

The AV Club does an awesome job describing Jon Hamm as an actor - this link DOES contain spoilers! White Christmas is the episode that made me feel like this was the closest to The Twilight Zone. I don't want to give anything away BUT be careful what you wish for.
