Originally this post was going to be titled Peace is Mine in 2009 but as The Boy started to listen to Geronimo Stilton for the gazillion time, The Teen was cleaning her room for the hundred gazillion time and The Mister shot Colombians and dealed coke (a la Scarface) I realize peace may be a long way off.
Then I got to thinking about Forrest Gump and his analogy about chocolate. To me life is not chocolate but a roller coaster: there’s ups, downs, twists, turns, big drops, and sometimes even backwards. You can choose the low thrill variety that is safe, secure and average fun or visit the restroom first then get on the highest ride in the park and scream your head off at the sheer joy of surviving.
I have decided to go for the thrill. Ending the year watching Queenie struggle to get well is enough to make even the hardest chick take stock:
In 2008
*my faith was tested.
* I learned the meaning of people being in your life for a reason, a season, a lifetime
* I realized that the media DOES influence you
* I fell back in love with cooking
* I also realized that I have been on the average roller coaster for some time now.
No more missed opportunities, coulda, shoulda, woulda, didn’t. I plan to shine this year!
How?
I have 12 months to figure it out and I plan to have fun doing it.
