Back to school, back to routine.
The change in weather brings pumpkin treats, my crock pot simmering all day with chili or some other wholesome meals, and best of all, back to school! I like having the house full of kids, but the whining refrain of “I’m bored!” gets old quick!
One of the things we kept from the summer was a tradition of Wind-Down Wednesday. At the local pizza place, Wednesday means pizza and a free 2 liter Pepsi. To cut down on costs, I decided to limit orders out to once a month and make my own pizza.
The family and I have experimented with English Muffin pizzas for individual snacks. Using pre made dough and loading it up with fresh herbs and tomatoes from the garden. This isn’t a big hit with my son who prefers to order out.
The Netflix Stream Team helps us regroup for the rest of the week. The family makes sure that nothing outside of the house is scheduled and we veg out, usually joined by my sister and niece.
One of my favorite ways to veg out is to follow the antics of Little Red Riding Hood, Granny, and the Wolf in Hoodwinked.
The Boy is crazy about Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
I’m also fond of The Breakfast Club. This movie takes me back to Middle School (insert dreamy music here for nostalgia!)
Pizza and a movie helps our family regroup and wind down. How do you make family time once school begins?
