Summer 2016 is a wrap! The shops on 69th Street were bustling with parents catching last minute deals for school uniforms, the school supply section at Target has been combined to a small bin, and Netflix has some programs for families to savor the last few lazy days of summer.
What’s your back to school traditions? For us, we take a road trip. It’s our last hoorah for summer, plus a chance to celebrate The Boy’s birthday (can we pause to acknowledge he will be 15 in two days? Have mercy!)
The best moments always happens when families come together and music and entertainment plays a huge part for us. It’s why 40% of families say they routinely watch all sorts of shows together. It’s also why I pause when I hear “How Deep is Your Love?” play in the supermarket and my kids find themselves humming it when they are puttering around the house.
Netflix has a new original series, Beat Bugs, inspired by the music of the Beatles. My mom LOVED the Beatles, and even though it skipped me, The Boy has a Beatles playlist for his daily runs.
Your family can have a sing-along with “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.” Thanks to five charming and energetic bug-like creatures (Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter), families have the opportunity to come together over kid-friendly storylines and some of the best music ever made — recorded by today’s top artists, including Jennifer Hudson, P!nk, Sia and Eddie Vedder.
Show us your family’s best cover of the Beat Bugs theme song “All You Need is Love” and share your video across your social channels with #StreamTeam and #BeatBugs.
I’d love to see how your family covers Beat Bugs. Tag me on Twitter @mrsrkfj or Instagram @andstarringasherself with your cover!
