I’ve been trying to find a way to post about YET another way I spend time on the web.
I was introduced to Harriet Ann Jacobs about four years ago when I visited the national park in downtown Philly. The guide described how Harriet eschewed slavery and chose to in the crawl space of an attic for seven years(!) to escape slavery. Eventually she escaped to Philadelphia then to New York.
I tried in vain to find the book Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl, but was unsuccessful or too cheap (probably the latter) to find a copy.
One day while wading in cyber space, I stumbled upon Daily Book Lit, a site that sends a chapter a day of a novel that can be read at your leisure. This is a wonderful way to gain knowledge and feel semi productive during lulls in traffic, waits at the doctor’s office or during meetings.
