This election cycle has been odious. I have cast a vote in every election save 1999 when I didn’t give a damn WHO was on the ballot. This year the top of the ticket is Bad and Worse. Pundits have projected that turnout will be low because of the lack of excitement these two elicit.
Do NOT let these two keep you from the polls!
NO matter your opinion on these two, there are still many more offices that need your attention.
One of those offices is State Representative:
WHAT THE HECK IS STATE REPRESENTATIVE?
A State Representative is part of the legislative branch of the government. This office is up for election every two years.
WHY SHOULD I CARE?
This position is the one that brings money to the district. According to The California League of Women’s Voters:
The duties of a representative are clear: Listen to concerns of constituents, reduce challenges through legislative action, and find resources to support district success.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME?
Your state rep is the one bringing home the money. Your state rep should be working with other members to pass laws and working towards a balanced state budget.
WHO’S ON THE TICKET?
There are so many districts up for office that I suggest visiting the Pennsylvania General Assembly site for your current representative, then visiting the Pennsylvania Department of State to see who is on the ballot.
The election is less than a week away. Make sure you do your research and vote.
