For dinner tonight we had:
Medium Rare Steak serves over a bed of sauteed mushrooms, peppers, onions and garlic.
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Broccoli with Cheese Sauce.
I love fresh ingredients and keep a clean kitchen, however, Gordan Ramsey has made a sister fat*
I used to work with a woman who swore by fresh garlic. yeah, whatever. Garlic for me came in a plastic container that could be purchased for 10 for a dollar. Now, I ONLY cook with garlic sliced from the bulb. Boxed food is only for the Mister if I didn’t leave left overs and hadn’t started the crock pot.
The skinny: I used to say the only thing I could make were reservations. The Mister and I spent some days at the Borgata (I loved the slots) and we ate at the buffet quite a bit. I realized that the food was…the same. It didn’t excite me and it didn’t satisfy me.
Fast Forward: My former coworker took me shopping (we worked in a supermarket) and pointed out ingredients SHE used. Then she made muffins. As a competitive person, I made muffins, and everyone who tasted both said they were good. Dammit, I wanted great!
My teen was on punishment from her usual channels so she started watching other things like BBC, Style Network, and Fine Living.
I met Gordan Ramsey on BBC.
What I have in common with Gordon:
*we both love the F word.
*we both hate laziness
*we both have a sense of what is just wrong and how to fix it.
Gordon always talks about cleanliness, rustic, and making food great. Gordan also like the “F” word and isn’t afraid to use it. He reduces grown men to tears (you naughty boy) and wears an amazing Pea Coat.
I have learned so much from my hours with Ramsey, and thank him.
*That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.
