Every day around 3:36 PM, the Boy and I engage in a little psychological warfare known in layman’s terms as homework.
The routine is supposed to be:
1. Hang up coat/jacket and book bag
2. Change from school clothes to after school gear
3. Lunchbox to the kitchen
4. Have a snack
His ‘kick rocks’ face
Lately, we only get half of #1 done.
Book bag NOT Hung Up. Fat Mittens has a new place to sleep
Anything but doing homework. And yes, that is JJ on the telly.
I have resorted to bribery. His class has been watching Multiplication Rock and we have the DVD from when The Teen was his age. So while he think he’s watching cartoons, he’s actually, gasp, learning. The bribery is two episodes for each subject done without a fight.
So far, I’m winning the battle, but since he’s only in second grade, I know that the war is far from over.
