iPod Mix – Christmas Edition

December 23, 2008

Only two shopping days before the BIG DAY and I have finally got in the mood. It was difficult this year when it should have been easier. With Queenie sick, the economy tight, but the bonus of no job worries it still wasn’t easy. The Mister did get a tree, and the kids decorated the hell out of the house. I still couldn’t muster up the mood. Even Mr Heat Miser blaring from the TV did not help.

As the good Reverend Doctor says, let the mood find you.

I put on the radio and found the mood here:

Jingle Bell Rock:
Having a past in retail, I was forced to like this song. Talk about being in the rotation! Giddyup, Jingle Horse Kick up your feet!

Linus and Lucy:
Not really a Christmas song, but one of the first songs I learned to play on a keyboard I got for Christmas one year.

Sleigh Bells:
The musical version. As a band geek, I used to love this song. It symbolized the start of the holidays at my high school.

Sleigh Bells:
The Ella Fitzgerald Version. This is too smooth.

Christmas in Hollis:
This was THE best. Mom’s cooking chicken and collard greens. The video is rather cheesy now.

O Holy Night:
When you realize that Christmas is not about the amount of gifts, but the birth of Christ, this will take you to the zone. Fall on those knees.

Please Come Home for Christmas:
Aaron Neville has such a smooth voice. And this song makes me want to hug all my family.

This Christmas:
Donny Hathaway. No other version does it justice, although the boy is partial to Chris Brown’s version.

It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas:
The kids aren’t even out of school, but this mom can hardly wait for school to start again!
