Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s the Muppet MOVIE!!!!

Thanks to Ben 95.7, I once again took a stroll down memory lane. Monday evening, Sleeping Beauty, The Boy, Bubbles!, and I were privy to a sneak peak of Disney’s The Muppet Movie.
I enjoyed the movie, more than the Boy. I fondly remember laying in front of the TV at my grandmother’s house giggling at the antics of Kermit and friends. As an adult, I can appreciate the little nuances that made the show work on the same cross the board entertainment like Spongebob or Adventure Time.
The movie is about a boy named Walter who is The Muppets biggest fan. He travels with his brother Gary (played by a wooden Jason Segal) and Gary’s girlfriend Mary (played by Amy Adams) to Los Angelos to see the fabled Muppet studio. The studio, alas, has fallen into disrepair and Walter overhears a nefarious plan from the evil Richman Oil CEO (played by Chris Cooper, who until my sister said his name was always ‘That guy!’) to tear the studio down to gain access to the oil beneath the land. Wacky shenanigans ensue as Walter works to get the old gang together to try to save the studio with one last telethon.
One can only hope that rather than show Wipeout during the holiday TV schedule hiatus, ABC decides to air a few Muppet repeats.
Some randomness from the movie:
The Boy and Bubbles! discussing the promos:
Bubbles! “Disney is sooo commercial.”
The Boy: “Disney owns The Muppets? That’s why they were in Disney World!”
Sleeping Beauty about a perfectly placed Cars 2 picture:
“Disney will squeeze every nickel from you…”
(During a Mickey Rooney cameo)
The Boy: Doesn’t he look like Cotton?
