When my phone alarm goes off at 8:15, I have 30 minutes to get myself ready and off to work. Here’s my morning to go list:
The Boy almost ruined this song for me, telling Julio to get the stretch. Ugh. But I dare you to listen to listen to this song and not bob your head.
One of The Teen’s friends thought it was hilarious that I knew the lyrics to this song. I like the upbeat tempo and the nod to Zach Galifianakis.
Bless my soul, honey, cuz Hercules had some bangers. This was also the first time I identified with the singers (the hair, the assertiveness, the gospel sound!) Zero to Hero:
And The Gospel Truth:
The Soundtrack to Pitch Perfect is the greatest timer. It’s 31 minutes long and that’s an indication of how much I’m dragging. I love the Treblemakers.
I’ve seen The Book of Mormon five times between LA and Philly. I still plan to see it on Broadway. This song, the end of Act One, still motivates me to get my rear in gear.
The Tarzan soundtrack was supposed to play when I gave birth to The Boy. I had it all planned: I would have scented candles, the lights would be low, and I would deliver in the tub. The Boy had other plans, and my water burst before I could light a single candle. I remember yelling some awful things to The Mister and the midwives and vowing that this was it. I also like this song because it reminds me of my ESL class.
Hozier still has a hold on me with Take Me to Church. I probably like this song so much because it feels like he looked into my soul and knows my challenge with real church.
Jilly from Philly sings this song from her uterus. When this comes on, I have to pause, raise a hand, and shake my head to the uh uh uh of this song. This woman can SANG!
What morning would not be complete without DMX?
