In case you didn’t know, September 29 is National Coffee Day and something big is brewing at McDonald’s®. This Thursday, your morning cup of coffee will do a lot more than kickstart your daily grind. To celebrate National Coffee Day, participating McDonald’s restaurants across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey are donating 100 percent of McCafé® a la carte drip coffee proceeds to Covenant House Pennsylvania and Covenant House New Jersey, the region’s largest homeless youth shelters. This will help provide food, clothing, shelter, and counseling for homeless youth to help them get back on their feet and life happy, healthy lives.
The new Covenant House partnership is a big part of McDonald’s larger commitment to giving back to their local communities. McDonald’s and Covenant House will be working together to promote job opportunities for the young men and women. The partnership will introduce Covenant House guests to the McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity Program, an employee education initiative open to all McDonald’s employees who have worked there nine months or more.
For those in Delaware, your local McDonald’s restaurants also have an ongoing philanthropic program around coffee – McCafé Coffee With A Cause! Restaurants in Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware have been donating 50 percent of coffee proceeds each Monday to a select charity each month. They will continue to do this all year, but so far, they’ve partnered with Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Breast Cancer Coalition of Delaware, The Arc of Delaware and more great organizations.
Keep the conversation going. Comments welcomed!
