In an attempt to find extra time in my day plus get a breakthrough from God, I am limiting my TV viewing and computer use.
This means that my crops are going to wilt in Farmville, I will be beaten to a pulp in Mafia Wars, I won’t know what’s on the mind of Americans with a smartphone (Twitter) and I have to limit my poking (Facebook) to in person encounters.
Day One, today, is proving most difficult. I just spent 20 minutes listening to a story about the Teen’s Government teacher. The story rambled on, and I think I nodded out towards the end. This morning I waxed poetic about Super Mario Bros Wii with the Boy. I believe *he* nodded out on that one.
The GRD has asked the entire Prayer Chapel family to make this sacrifice. The plus is that the excuse of not having time to read my Bible, run, play a game with the kids, etc has been shelved. Without the TV blaring as background noise I’ve rediscovered music that I forgot I had. There’s also a peace over the house. Tonight I’m going to persuade the family to go for a walk or at the least begin to cull through a box of photos we have gathering dust in the corner.
The negative is that the last thing I watched was a repeat of Justin Beiber’s performance at the VMA’s last night. He’s cute in that corny middle class suburban Ben Affleck* way, but do I really want that to be what sustains me for the next week? Also, I’m going to miss the season opener of Survivor. Not to forget no Judge Judy! How can I know what justice is demanded of me?
I do intend to blog, hence the post. With the quiet of the house, I feel some creative juices flowing. Besides, there’s always DVR!
