While others look forward to Christmas. Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa, I love New Year’s Eve. The Mister attends Watch Service at church and the kids go party with friends. I like to curl up with whatever Law and Order marathon is running and fall asleep by 11. I think the build up of stress over holiday cooking, clearing year-end work bits and the pressure to welcome a new year is too much for me. My body takes the cue and I am out!
This year I may be able to join some of the festivities by heading to One Liberty Observation Deck. One Liberty Observation Deck offers the best view of the Penn’s Landing fireworks at 6 p.m. I can see the firework display and still get home in time to set the traditional meal of black-eyed beans and rice on the stove. This is also a great idea for parents of little ones to help them feel connected to the celebration of a new year. Philadelphia’s tallest attraction has incredible 360° views of the city, making it the perfect spot to watch the fireworks inside away from the cold wintry weather (another great reason to make this plan happen!).
Open until 8 p.m. discounts for New Year’s Eve include $5.00 off advance tickets purchased online OR free kids admission (one free youth when accompanied by one paid adult at the Ticketing Desk only).
