My niece remarked that October went by in a minute. I agree. Wondering how it seems I turned 41 and now I’m turning back the clocks, I am a little miffed at the (not so) helpful soul who remarked that there were eight Sundays until Christmas. However, as October closes and November blows in with the cold air, I can say that turning 41 was not the horror that I thought it would be, and for the first time in forever, I got a gift that was all mine. There was a time that being a twin meant that I was sharing not just my face, but my gifts with my sister.
The Disney book Snow White is the first thing I remember as my very own gift. My sister and I were in preschool and the kid who was supposed to give me a gift bailed that day. Thankfully, the lady who ran the daycare, Miss Davis, was prepared for this and had an extra gift for this emergency. As I unwrapped my present, seeing Snow White’s face on the cover excited me like crazy! I remember sitting under the dining room table and paging through the book, marveling that this book was really ALL mine!
Netflix seems to know my heart. In addition to Django (White Cake!), I’ve been bingeing on the ABC drama Once Upon a Time.
Once Upon a Time follows the denizens of Storybrooke who were transported to modern times Maine from the trickery of the Evil Queen. When Emma Swan shows up, she begins to jog the memories of the residents and reunite Snow White with her Prince Charming.
Since the days are shorter and chillier, I also have picked up my knitting needles and begin to start on a blanket and the winter accessories that we always seem to not have when it gets cold.
With the exception of Tuesday (your vote is your voice, so make sure you vote!), I plan to curl up on my couch, work on my knitting, and fall in love again with Snow White and the magic of fairy tales all over again.
What shows are keeping you toasty this winter?
