Tomorrow I get to take The Teen to see my second favorite musical.
Last year (heh) I made a promise to see a stage play once a month. After the two performances of The Philadelphia Orchestra, I wanted to make the Arts of Philly a regular occurrence. My budget was not aligned with this goal, so I planned to see shows at The UDPAC. When the opportunity to snag a pair of tickets to see Les Miz on stage arrived, I jumped at the chance to get downtown. The Mister was my original date, but hearing The Teen rave about Wolverine, Catwoman, and Gladiator in the movie version, I knew she had to be schooled in stage productions. Plus any excuse to visit The Academy of Music is good enough for me.
See, the Academy of Music holds many fond memories. I graduated high school from there many moons ago, I saw The Nutcracker with my first boyfriend, and The Mister and I saw Miss Saigon when The Boy was The Bump. If Miss Saigon comes back to town The Boy will be my date to THAT show.
To prepare for our evening, I have been playing the original soundtrack mixed with Patti LuPone’s London performance. Random tidbit: Patti LuPone stars in my favorite musical, Evita.
Les Miserables will be playing through January 13, 2013 at The Academy of Music. Tickets are still available.
DISCLOSURE: I received a pair of tickets to Les Miserables, but the views and opinions are all my own.
