I love Daniel Craig as James Bond. He’s rugged, he’s reckless, he’s flawed. He is scrumptious!
I watched Casino Royale so much that it has become a sleep movie, meaning I fall asleep whenever I hear just the theme.
Excited, the Mister and I popped in the DVD, borrowed from the library, of course! and set about getting engrossed in the next thriller from Bond, James Bond.
From the corny, disjointed theme to the what the f*ck is going on now?! plot, I was disappointed.
The movie picks up where Casino Royale ended, with Bond capturing Mr White and returning him to be questioned by MI6. Then it goes horribly wrong from there. Bond isn’t supposed to have any feelings for the late Vesper, but the whole movie is about revenge with a little let’s be environmentally friendly sub plot thrown in.
At least Le Chiffre was an interesting villain, trying to create a bogus stock market (Madoff?). This villain looked like he was permanently surprised or high.
Then, there’s Judi Dench playing M as a mother hen, clucking over bad boy Bond. M may have been annoyed with past Bonds but she/he never fretted and got their knickers in a knot.
Had there not been Bond in white pants (wiping drool) and a kick ass fight scene in Italy, AND I shelled out something other than time, I would be thoroughly pissed about this.
As it stands, I’m going to pop in Casino Royale, try to stay awake, and wait for a better sequel.
