I may have to go back to watching the news for traffic and weather only. Another child has perished unnecessarily due to someone overlooking them in a car seat.
A two year old baby died yesterday due to hypothermia. It seems the person responsible for him forgot he was in the car and HOURS later returned to find the baby dead.
WTF*CKERY? Yeah, I had to dig out some expletives.
As the Mister said, “Two year old’s make too much noise to forget they are around.”
I agree. Both the Teen and the Boy talked nonstop from 9 and 11 months to now. I’ve forgotten they were around when they fall asleep in the car during a long ride, but I have never forgotten them.
Benefit of the doubt should be given, but darn, how do you forget a child?
The Mister also gave up this idea: why not equip cars with a sensor that makes it impossible to remove the key from the ignition if a child is still in a car seat. See it would work like this:
The child seat would be connected to a sensor that would alarm you once you tried to leave the car and the child was still in the car. It can be argued that you have to leave the car to get the child out of the seat. Well how about not being able to lock the car if the child is still in the car?
Something has to be done for those who keep forgetting these babies.
