Over the holiday, one of my in laws made a remark that reduced The Teen to tears. I was Hell-Bent on tearing this person a new one and spent much of our seven hour drive plotting revenge. When I finally got a chance to talk confidentially to The Teen about the incident and how she felt, she shrugged and said that it was just my the way of this person.
I was floored. The Teen just…let it go.
I always joke that I have moments when I wonder if I’m the teacher or if The Teen teaches me. This was one of those times. I admire The Teen for her ability to rise above the hurt and move on. Her ability to let it go reminds me of blogger Martina McGowan. Martina writes at Believing in God and Acting As If and wrote a timely post about letting go of the past.
