Thoughtful Thursday:

December 13, 2012

Sons of Anarchy…how come nobody told me about this show?!  I’ve spent the better part of the week catching up on the series.  My observations:

Katey Sagel is phenomenal   The character she plays, Gemma Teller is a bad “shut-your-mouth!”
I want a Harley.
All of the bikers looks like they smell of oil, stale cigarettes, booze, and overall funk.

This week:

Stay in Your Lane
The Basketball Diaries

Hooping it Up

The Boy decided to join the basketball team.

I resisted for the longest because I feel like every time you see a young man of color, a basketball is nearby.  Chris Rock once said he went to a “Black” mall and all he saw were baby stores and sports shops as if all blacks want to do is “run and f*ck.”  That’s how I feel about basketball.  A casual drive through my neighborhood and it seems that you can’t go past a street without seeing some kids playing ball. I didn’t want him to fall into the stereotype of a ball player.  But he begged and got on my last nerve one Saturday so I let him go to practice.

As he listened to Couch P’s instruction then played in a scrimmage I realized basketball is not about a shoe endorsement or the large life.  It’s about teamwork.

For now I’ll let him continue to be a part of the team.  I’m still wishing for Atlanta 2020 and the 4×400 relay.

Mind…Your Own Business

The Mister and I were discussing our days and both of us have the same problem. We have co-workers who think it’s THEIR job to keep tabs on what we’re doing or not doing. Even with the kids I have always wondered WHY people make someone else’s business their business. If I told The Teen to clean her room and she isn’t, The Boy does not need to tell me.  I will find out when I go to inspect her room.  I’ve noticed that when he is telling on his sister, most likely his own room is still a disaster zone.

As I have opined on more than one occasion “Stay in Your Lane!”

What I do is not your concern.

Tomorrow I unveil a new feature!  Stay tuned.

I think it’s a fantastic story! I love Gemma Teller. She can call someone a “stupid b*tch” and make it sound like a love note!
