My lack of blogging coincidentally came at the same time as my Kindle Fire.
It has been a while, and I would apologize, but I had a new toy, what can I say?
Some things I’ve been mulling:
He was running…
When shoes are too large to fill.
Shot three times.
Run, Forrest Run!
The Boy has taken to track like a duck to water. I couldn’t be happier. That extra energy that used to irk me to my soul is now expended at the track. He’s learning teamwork, how to be a better winner and loser, and he’s becoming more disciplined. He even made it to the Penn Relays. Unfortunately, there were a few schools faster than him, but he was still happy. His coach remarked that he is very athletic and if he sticks with it, he could go really far. My hope is that he runs to university, and on the next lap, take his momma with him!
If you don’t stand for something…
If asked, I would have sworn the only thing The Teen was good at was working on her ass groove and driving me crazy. Recently, the young lady I have cultivated, cried many years over, and considered putting out of my house, has evolved into a young lady I am extremely proud to call my child*. It started with her attending church with me because she missed going to service with her father. That was a surprise. Then, she set up a study group with her friends for the SAT’s. Another surprise, because I was convinced that the only thing she studied was the ABC Family lineup. Now, she is actively participating in the protest to cut the funding at her school. If asked, I could tell you that The Teen has a good heart and is a typical Teen. Now, she’s showing that some of what I have been saying has sunk in. Now if I can get her butt to the track…
Citizens Police Academy
I was once one of those who thought cops did nothing but eat doughnuts, harass young men, and live to give me speeding tickets. After getting to know a few, I realize that cops are not only humans, but they really are putting their life on the line daily.
I’ve been part of the Police Academy.
No, not THAT one, but the Citizens’ Police Academy the Township holds two times a year. I’ve interrogated a “subject” and got him to confess; learned that the Law & Orders, CSI, and other cop shows makes life difficult for police who have to fight the Hollywood stereotype; and I got shot three times in what were supposed to be routine calls.
I have a renewed respect for what police officers do to keep us safe.

What are you thoughtful about today?
*I’ve always been proud of her, it’s truly amazing to see that the pieces have all fallen into place.
