The Teen and I, in an attempt to have ‘us’ time, are taking a kickboxing class at Daniel Pope Karate. Our first class was Tuesday. So far I’m having fun hanging with The Teen and entertaining thoughts of Karate Kid “sweep the leg” giggles. Those giggles soon turned to groans of pain as we did a series of calisthenics. I truly thought I would pass out. I’m still feeling the affects of Spider Man push-ups as I bend or twist.
My sedentary lifestyle caught up big time as the instructor got in my face and told me to push on, push on. We had to do a two minute plank. I was like, “Um, sir, have you seen me in this class?! What makes you think I can do ANY of this?!”
Next Tuesday seems to come quicker than I can to admit. Determined not to repeat feeling like I was passing out, I made a pledge to put The Boy on the bus then take a walk daily.
I did just that this morning. I contemplated doing Couch to 5K than realized that it was indeed me who snapped “Get away from me!” to Mr. Kanard (push on, push on guy) during the running in place portion of class.
I opted instead for the Personal Running Trainer and aimed to complete day one of the one mile run.
As I ran through the park, my body and lungs screamed. I contemplated stopping, but I saw this when I first entered the woods:
It looks like a gray heron.
I pressed on, then saw what looked like a pack of wild dogs running on the trail before me.
Turns out five deer were making there way through the woods just like me. I pressed on, thrilled that I made myself get up rather than argue with the folks on Morning Joe.
A bonus was Tim Tebow congratulating me (via Nike) on completing my run.

The human body is amazing. I’ve worked out TWICE this week and I already see a change. I’m taking this one day at a time, but I’m excited that I did it.

***********What are you Thrilled about today?*************
Aww! I am thrilled you are featured on Blog Her! I will tweet and post until I get placed in Twitter Jail. I am thrilled your children like me. I think blogging is your forte. You do it so well. I’m heading to my happy place (Wendy’s) and over a salad will plan out my next few posts.
Congratulations on having the bravery to take a class with the Teen. Your story about the pain of sedentary life catching up with you has inspired me to get my butt up and do something. I am surprising the kids with a 1 mile walk after school today. They like you so I won’t tell them it is your fault. For your question about thrills, I am thrilled that one of my blog posts was featured on BlogHer today. I am thrilled with you because you are the person that started me blogging in the first place and encouraged me along. I am thrilled to know you.
