…until next year!
Last night I pulled off my second Township wide National Night Out.
It was stressful trying to mesh my vision with that of the Township. The people working with me did not always play nice, and at times I wanted to say eff it and go have a V8.
However, as my friend Janeane says, I put on my big girls pants and sucked it up.
The night was blur. I remember setting up some tables, tossing a pack of papers at some volunteers, then working the crowd. From all accounts, the night was successful, and I made a positive impact in the community. I cultivated some new relationships, watched The Boy break out of his shell to play with some Boy Scouts, and made two people squeal with joy when they discovered they won the prizes we had available:
An autographed Mike Schmidt baseball and tickets to see Hairspray at the Performing Arts Center.
For some reason I panicked during the day. I know SOME stress is healthy to ensure some type of endorphin kicks in, but I was having all kinds of issues.
As I mumbled to myself about what could go wrong, The Boy reminded me that the event I put on the year before was successful, so why worry.
Out of the mouth of babes…
I found this quote on Twitter, and this brought me back to earth.
Be mindful of how you release your negativity so that it does not reflect back into your reality.
This along with the words from The Boy calmed me down.
I do so love this kid!
I’m thrilled that this is over until next year.
