One thing I hate about working out to a DVD, is effed up cuing. Laila Ali and Sugar Ray are taking the award today for this faux pas big time.
Today’s choice of workout was the Lightweight Beginner’s Workout in their two disc set. The tape has an introduction which runs through the moves so you can jump right in to the workout. And jump in you do. This 31 minute program runs through hooks, uppercuts, jabs and hooks. There is legwork by way of squats and some waist work by way of squatting jabs. I heard some cracks that I hadn’t heard since I went to see a chiropractor earlier this summer. That was a positive. Then their is the requisite ab portion of the DVD. Crunches, bicycles, and isolation exercise round out the workout.
Laila barks out the next moves then the music gets all funky and out of whack towards the end. Not really my ideal workout.
Then there is poor Sugar Ray. He seems so lost. Remember the In Living Color episode with the Snackin’ Shack? He throws out random comments while trying to focus on the moves that are being performed. I felt just as lost as he appears.
All in all, I didn’t sweat. I was again able to keep up due to increased stamina from my summer of running, however, this is not one I may keep. I didn’t feel that much of a burn, and I didn’t feel like I had completed a good workout. This may be on the shelves of a local GoodWill in the next few days.
